People ask me all the time “What does it mean when I crave (insert any random thing here) and should I eat it?”. Others are fighting their cravings all the time.
This month, let’s find out more about some of the causes of cravings. Below, Christa Orecchio goes through a handful of the reasons you might have cravings. Give a listen and see if any of these connect for you. Become conscious and present–really tuning into your body and your experiences to see what the source of your cravings might be.
As to whether or not you should give in to the cravings: it’s really up to you. I’m a fan of giving in to cravings as long as I’ve determined they have no alternate source (like dehydration). And then I keep an eye on them to see if I can control the source and fill that void some other way.
If I find that my cravings are out of control, I call in help. If you simply cannot control a craving and it’s become a problem–you know. That’s when it’s time to seek counsel and guidance from a health professional.
